The Lebedinsky Mining and Processing Plant (part of the Metalloinvest company) purchased 500 doses of Prevenar 13 to protect the company's employees from pneumococcal infections. Long-term practice of using this medical product has proven that vaccinated workers are easier to tolerate infectious diseases (influenza, SARS, etc.) and are less prone to complications caused by pneumococci (bacterial otitis media, tonsillitis, meningitis, pneumonia).
Vaccination is the most effective way to protect health from serious infectious diseases, allowing for the formation of specific immunity against a number of viruses and bacteria, – commented Olga Smekhneva, chief specialist for health protection of the Directorate for Social Affairs of Lebedinsky GOK. – Workers suffering from chronic diseases of the respiratory system, cardiovascular system, liver, kidneys, diabetes, as well as smokers and employees over 65 years old will be vaccinated against pneumococcal infection, first of all. This preventive measure reduces the likelihood of complications with seasonal morbidity in this group of people.
In addition, the company resumed routine vaccination of employees against measles, diphtheria and tetanus, which was previously suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
