UNICEF notes that the largest increase in measles cases in 2018 compared with 2017 was observed in Ukraine, the Philippines and Brazil.

Only in Ukraine in 2018, 35,120 cases of infection were registered, which is more than the second and third places combined. In the Philippines, 15,599 cases were registered in 2018, and in Brazil – 10,262 cases.
Measles in Ukraine
“Almost all of these cases of measles can be prevented. Measles is a disease, but very often the real infection is misinformation, distrust and negligence. We must do more to accurately inform each parent to help vaccinate every child safely,” the executive director said UNICEF Henrietta Fort.
Where and how many people have measles
98 countries of the world reported that in 2018 the number of reported measles cases in them was more than in 2017. In Ukraine, there were 35,120 cases of measles, with five thousand cases in the previous year. Since the outbreak of the outbreak of 30 people died.
According to the WHO, the largest number of measles cases in the last 12 months was registered in Ukraine – over 72 thousand cases.
In the second and third place by the number of patients – Madagascar and India with 69,720 cases and 60,641 cases, respectively.
This is followed by Pakistan (28,164 cases), the Philippines (19358), Yemen (10,566), Brazil (10,318), Nigeria (7,481), Thailand (6,213), Congo (5,864).
