Researchers from the University of Paris-Saclay have observed them for 19 years.
During the observation period, diabetes of the second type was registered in 4187 participants. Scientists have found that among women who rated their work as “mentally difficult,” the risk of developing diabetes was 54% higher than among women who rated their work significantly lower.
This relationship was observed independently of other factors, including unhealthy lifestyles, family history of illness, smoking and physical activity. At the same time, scientists have discovered the relationship between body mass index and heavy mental work. This bond was stronger among women without being overweight.
According to scientists, the results of the experiment indicate the harmful effects of stress on the female body.
