Every year, 14 million new cases of cancer are registered in the world, of which 140 thousand are in Ukraine. According to WHO, in our country more than 1 million patients and daily about 450 people find out that they have a malignant tumor.
Important! Cancer Viruses: Prevention and Treatment
The development of a dangerous disease is affected by the sex and age of the person. The most common oncological forms of malignant tumors are: in men – cancer of the trachea, bronchi, lungs, in women – breast cancer.

Why is cancer so hard to cure? Cancer has almost the same DNA as a person suffering from cancer, so it is difficult for the immune system to detect it in time. Tumors multiply and mutate. Therefore, the treatment that acted on the tumor in the initial stages is already ineffective against its new “clone” at later stages. Unfortunately, a single drug does not exist, because there is no universal type of cancer.
There are three methods for treating cancer: surgical, medication, and radiation therapy. When choosing a method of treatment, the doctor relies on the form of cancer and stage. After that, he should offer the patient an optimal method that will help prolong life as much as possible. However, the patient himself chooses whether this method is suitable for him.
Basic Cancer Treatments
The most effective way to treat cancer is chemotherapy.
This is a chemotherapy treatment for cancer. They have cytotoxic (which destroys tumor cells) and cytostatic (which inhibits their growth). During cancer chemotherapy, medications are administered intravenously or taken orally in capsules or tablets.
However, the approach to chemotherapy should be very personalized, the doctor and the patient together weigh all the advantages and risks, because about 3% of patients with cancer die due to chemotherapy.

Irradiation or radiation therapy
This is a cancer treatment with high doses of radiation. It damages the DNA of cancer cells and triggers a self-destruction mechanism. There are two main types of radiation therapy: internal – a local type of therapy aimed at a specific part of the body, remote – a special device irradiates the body from a distance.
Using radiation to treat these types of cancer: cancer of the thyroid gland, lungs, breast, and the like. However, it can have various side effects, in particular hair loss, loss of appetite, nausea, diarrhea.

It helps our immunity recognize cancer cells and destroy them. Therapy can take various forms, but most often these are droppers. In some cases, they are the basis of treatment. For example, with melanoma (skin cancer) or lung cancer, immunotherapy is often primarily used.
There are also side effects from immunotherapy: often these are autoimmune diseases, when the immune system begins to attack our own organs and tissues.

This is a new type of cancer treatment, mainly in the form of tablets. It targets cancer genes, proteins, and tissues that make the tumor survive and grow. Most often, this therapy is used for stages 3-4 of cancer.
Targeted therapy can: block or turn off signals that allow cancer cells to grow and multiply; not allow cells to live longer than necessary; destroy cancer cells. In addition, targeted drugs not only act on the tumor, but also use our own immune system to fight the disease.

Breakthroughs in Breast Cancer Treatment
According to statistics, a woman dies every hour due to breast cancer in Ukraine. And all because every 7-8 woman who has problems with the mammary glands, she goes to the doctors too late. An early detection of the disease can save a person, because in the first stage, breast cancer is cured in 95% of women. Everything you need to know about breast cancer, read here.
The disease began to occur in young people, although it is believed that women at the age of 40 with a hereditary family predisposition are at risk – about 10% of all cases are hereditary.
How to conduct a self-examination? You need to stand in front of the mirror first with your hands down and a good look at your chest, and then do the same with your hands behind your head. Attention should be paid to changes in shape or size, redness and swelling of the skin areas of the mammary gland, retraction or protrusion of the skin, retraction of the nipples and the presence of discharge from them.

Radiotherapy is considered an effective weapon against breast cancer. Often this localized treatment is used alone or in combination with chemotherapy. In the process of radiotherapy, radioactive radiation is used. It destroys cancer cells in the affected area. However, adjacent tissues remain intact.
Interesting! What women need to do to overcome breast cancer
Over the past decade, the number of oncological operations has rapidly increased, accompanied by simultaneous or delayed reconstruction of the mammary gland using the body’s own tissues of the woman or using silicone implants.
In addition, scientists from Hong Kong Baptist University have found that rhodium metal can be used to treat triple negative breast cancer. So, rhodium-based drugs suppress the process of cell growth and exhibit powerful antitumor activity.
Breakthroughs in the treatment of brain cancer
Note that brain tumors in frequency occupy fifth place among tumors of other locations. In most cases, the early symptoms are the same. The main symptoms of brain cancer are: headache, blurred vision, nausea, mild dizziness, weakness, memory problems, sudden cramps or seizures.
American researchers have found a way to overcome one of the most common and aggressive forms of brain tumor – glioblastoma, which contains a high concentration of the CDK5 enzyme. By trying to block this enzyme, scientists were able to stop the growth of tumors.
Brain cancer has very common symptoms.
But Australian researchers have created a drug based on gold, which is 24 times more effective in cancer cells than cisplatin drugs, which are now used for treatment. It is effective against five types of cancer cells. Metal-based anticancer drugs have been known for a long time and they have successfully increased patient survival.

Other cancer treatments
At a London hospital, an 11-year-old boy was the first patient to receive therapy using his own cancer cells. At first he was treated with the usual way to fight cancer: chemotherapy and bone marrow transplantation. But the new therapy involves the removal of immune cells, after which they are modified so that they can recognize cancer cells.
New method helps cells recognize cancer
This method of treatment has been licensed and can be used for patients up to 25 years old with acute lymphoblastic leukemia of B cells.
Note that classical medicine does not recommend the use of non-traditional methods of treatment. This is because modern science is based on evidence-based medicine. In order for any treatment method to be put into practice, it must first undergo clinical trials and prove its effectiveness.
