Severe COVID-19 Patients Detected Dangerous Antibody
Scientists have warned that plasma transfusions from people who have had a dangerous form of coronavirus can harm patients. Therefore, before transfusion of blood serum, an antibody should be removed from it.
Some antibodies that are in the blood of critically ill patients with coronavirus can bind to the S protein of the virus and induce an inflammatory response. Over time, this violates the integrity of the pulmonary endothelial barrier and causes microvascular thrombosis.
Moderna vaccine has been shown to be effective
The Moderna vaccine has proven effective, the drug did not cause side effects in volunteers, but it ensured the production of antibodies against coronavirus.
After vaccination, patients developed antibodies in the blood that neutralized the coronavirus in laboratory experiments. Their number corresponded to the maximum concentration of antibodies in people who had COVID-19. In addition, the vaccine stimulated the production of T cells, which are responsible for cellular immunity reactions.
US to end vaccine production by late summer
The United States is rapidly preparing to launch production of a vaccine against coronavirus. Despite the fact that there is still no effective vaccine, the production process will be ready for launch in 4-6 weeks.
