The patient’s problems began in 2011 when he finished taking a course of antibiotics after a finger injury. The police issued a man a fine for drunk driving
The situation escalated in 2014, when a man was fined for drunk driving. Although he did not drink, the breathalyzer showed that the body contained 0.2 ppm of alcohol – as if he had drunk several glasses of beer.
Doctors at the University of Richmond diagnosed the man: in the patient’s analyzes, they found yeast and fungus that turned carbohydrates from his food into alcohol.
The American got rid of the syndrome after taking antifungal drugs and a six-week diet that excluded carbohydrates.
