How to eat better
There are mainly fruits, vegetables, legumes and whole grains. Focus on getting protein of plant origin, not animal. Only occasionally include meat, fish and other animal products in the diet. It is important to give preference to organic meat. Although it costs more, but on condition of its consumption (not daily) it brings much more benefit. Do not consume processed foods, limit your intake of sugars and sweets.
Such a diet is much better for human health. After all, it controls weight, improves metabolic health (glucose, cholesterol, lipoprotein profile) and blood pressure. It is also significantly better for bowel and heart health. In addition, this type of diet reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes.

Additional reasons to cut back on meat
Now the average amount of meat consumption is growing globally. Growth rates differ from income and population. Interestingly, in high-income countries, the total amount of consumption of this product decreases, with an average – it grows, and in low-income countries – low consumption, but stable.
About a quarter of the world's greenhouse gas emissions account for the use of land for food and forestry. This is about the same amount as from electricity and heating, and significantly more than from all types of transport on the planet.
The production of animal products, especially red meat, has a high carbon footprint. And it carries an even more disastrous impact on the environment, because it affects greenhouse gas emissions, land use and loss of biodiversity.
In addition, meat production accounts for 73% of the world's antibiotic use. And although antibiotics are necessary for animals, but in humans, such meat forms resistance to antibiotics.
The EAT-Lancet Commission on Food, Planet, Health offers more fruits, vegetables, nuts, and beans, and less meat and dairy.
The type of food, when a person’s diet is mainly based on plant foods and sometimes animals, is called flexitarian diet.
