Gubkinsky Rospotrebnadzor notes that an unfavorable situation has arisen in the district on natural focal infections. According to the agency, in 2019, seven cases of leptospirosis were registered. Three among the urban population and four cases among the villagers. Leptospirosis was ill in Averino, Istobny, Arkhangelsk and Ukolovo. At the same time, in the previous three years, leptospirosis was not on the territory of the district.
“The time has come for the harvest, as well as the time for the mass migration of rodents from natural landscapes to populated areas, which significantly increases the risk of infection of the population with natural focal infections,” warns Irina Lentsova, chief expert expert at the Department of Rosportebnadzor in the Belgorod Region in the Gubkinsky District.
Help Leptospirosis is one of the most dangerous infectious diseases that loves to infect the liver and spleen.
The symptomatology of this disease is diverse – everything, as a rule, depends on which organs are damaged. But the most important clinical signs of leptospirosis are: fever, jaundice, muscle and joint pain, pain in the right hypochondrium, and more.
This disease can be fatal. The period from the onset of the disease to the onset of clinical symptoms is from 4 to 30 days, most often 7-10 days.
Leptospirosis is reported mainly in summer and autumn.
As Irina Lentsova said, the disease is transmitted in various ways. Including through food and water contaminated with excrement of rodents, patients with leptospirosis. You can get infected by cutting meat, eating unwashed fruits and vegetables contaminated with rodent excrement, during unsafe care for animals with leptospirosis. Swimming in ponds and even barefoot walking on moist soil can also be dangerous.
– The causative agent of leptospirosis has good environmental stability. As a rule, leptospira die when exposed to high temperatures, as well as sunlight. As for water, some of them can live there from a couple of hours to thirty days. Leptospira lives in dry soil for two hours, and in swampy soil for ten months. Also, this pathogen very easily tolerates freezing – in ponds and in moist soil, leptospira calmly survive the winter, ”said the chief expert.
On ordinary foods, the pathogen can live for about two days.
In order not to become infected with leptospirosis, the following rules must be observed:
use only disinfected or boiled water in everyday life and for drinking; protect food and water from rodents; to prevent the penetration of rodents (mice, rats) into their housing; to prevent the penetration of leptospira through damaged skin in places or rooms where rodents are possible (cellars, cellars, countryside, summer cottages, etc.), work should be carried out in personal protective equipment (suits, robes, gloves, masks). .
