In the Gubkinsky urban district, an oncology center will appear before the end of 2020. This was reported on the website of the regional health department. This will be possible thanks to the implementation of the federal project on the fight against cancer in the national project "Health Care".
Last year, as part of this project, outpatient cancer care centers received the first patients in Belgorod and Stary Oskol. Now Belgorod residents and old-Oskol residents have the opportunity to undergo a comprehensive and timely diagnosis of the main types of malignant neoplasms and receive medicinal antitumor treatment in polyclinics at the place of residence.
Doctors are sure that the organization of such centers will increase the proportion of malignant neoplasms detected in the early stages to 80%. In addition, they will help relieve the regional cancer dispensary.
How do outpatient cancer care centers work? Patients with suspected cancer pathology are referred to oncology centers by family doctors from polyclinics in the community.
Cancer centers are engaged not only in therapy, but also in diagnosis. The functions of specialized centers for outpatient oncological care are also dispensary observation, conducting chemotherapeutic treatment on an outpatient basis and in an inpatient setting, and monitoring patient treatment.
In addition, a psychosocial support service, medical rehabilitation, palliative care and postoperative treatment was organized for patients.
In 2020, the oncology center will also appear in the Shebekinsky urban district, and in 2021 in the Rakityansky district, in the Yakovlevsky and Valuysky urban districts.
