Back in the 70s, it was widely believed in world medicine that saturated fats contained in whole milk clog arteries and create excess weight.
Frightened people began to switch to the consumption of skim milk, or refused it altogether.
Medical expert "Daily Mail" Dr. Michael Mosley is confident that this was a monstrous mistake, on the contrary, which led to an increase in heart ailments and other diseases. Meanwhile, the advertising of “milk replacers”, such as soybean, almond and coconut, continues, which, due to their composition, cannot replace real cow's milk.
But Mosley completely switched to the consumption of whole milk, which, he notes, contains many nutrients that are not found in any other drink, for example, it contains a lot of protein and vitamin B12.
Mosley notes that few know that milk is the most important source of iodine. One small glass of cow's milk contains almost 70 percent of the recommended daily iodine requirements necessary for the work and development of the brain, regulating a person’s mood and metabolic processes. At the same time, milk derived from plant sources contains only 2 percent of its iodine in real milk. If you refuse milk, you will need to eat something like seaweed and shellfish every day.
Mosley warns that refusing milk has led to a critical iodine deficiency in the body of the British and people in other European countries. This particularly affects young women who go on vegetable diets and reject dairy products.
In adolescent girls, the level of iodine in the body dropped to 70 percent of the acceptable minimum. Such people begin to suppress the hormone responsible for the conversion of food into energy, there is an increase in excess weight, sudden mood swings. And in pregnant women, lack of iodine affects the development of the brain of the fetus. Such children have problems with the development of speech, they have poor motor skills.
Now it turns out that it is vital for a person to consume whole milk, as the type of saturated fat contained in it increases the level of good cholesterol, which in turn removes the excess in the blood of its bad variety and sends it to the liver for processing, which decomposes from the body. Mosley points out that consumers of whole milk protect themselves from increasing excess weight and reduce the risk of hypertension.
Observation of 18,438 American women showed that those who consumed more fatty dairy products were less likely to get fat in the next 11 years.
Whole milk is 90 times more essential omega-3 fatty acids than it is removed. Omega-3 is known to protect the brain, reduce arousal and depression. The questionable process of degreasing kills milk and its products, depriving them of vitamins A and D.
