Regional Rospotrebnadzor published on its official website recommendations on the prevention of coronavirus for tourists traveling on holidays to China, Thailand, the UAE and other countries. Experts remind that the signs of coronavirus infection are similar to influenza and SARS (fever, cough, runny nose, lacrimation, headache).
Information According to the State Committee for Hygiene and Health of the People’s Republic of China, as of 01/21/2020, more than 300 confirmed cases of the disease caused by the new coronavirus were registered in the world: 287 in China (mainly in Wuhan, as well as in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong Province), 2 in Thailand, 1 in Japan, 1 in the Republic of South Korea), including 4 fatal.
The predominant form of infection that a coronavirus provokes is respiratory. Less commonly, in children, an intestinal variety occurs. SARS, which occurs under the influence of the virus, usually lasts for several days and ends with a full recovery. However, in some cases, it can take the form of SARS or severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), which can lead to death.
In order to prevent the spread of cases of diseases caused by the new coronovirus in the Russian Federation, Russian tourists traveling to Thailand, the UAE, China and other countries must observe the following precautions:
Do not visit markets where animals, seafood are sold; use only thermally processed food, bottled water; Do not attend zoos, cultural events involving animals; use respiratory protection (masks); wash hands after visiting crowded places and before eating; at the first signs of the disease, seek medical help from medical organizations, do not allow self-medication; when applying for medical assistance in the territory of the Russian Federation, inform medical personnel about the time and place of stay in a foreign country (Thailand, UAE, etc.)
Information Timely diagnosis is one of the most important measures in the event of a threat of the emergence and spread of a new coronavirus in Russia. The Rospotrebnadzor scientific organizations less than 7 days after the appearance of information on the gene structure of the new coronavirus developed two variants of diagnostic kits for determining the presence of the virus in the human body.
The kits are based on the molecular genetic research method, the so-called polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Using this method gives test systems significant advantages. The first is high sensitivity. Using developed test systems it is possible to detect single copies of viruses. The second – to diagnose the disease there is no need to take blood, it is enough to take a sample from the nasopharynx with a cotton swab. Third, the analysis result can be obtained in 2-4 hours.
The diagnostic laboratories of Rospotrebnadzor throughout Russia possess the necessary equipment and specialists for using the developed diagnostic tools.
