A group of researchers from Tel Aviv University in Israel have hypothesized that eating three times a day can help physiological processes better synchronize and reduce insulin levels, according to DiabetesCare.

How was the study?
In their study, scientists divided the participants into two groups and randomly assigned them to follow either a typical diet with six meals a day, or a diet with three meals a day.
Type 2 diabetes – what is it? This is a metabolic condition in which the body is not able to sufficiently process glucose (sugar). Because of this, blood sugar levels are constantly high. If diabetes is not diagnosed on time, it can lead to various complications, including hyperglycemia, hypertension, and vision problems.
At three meals a day, participants had to adhere to a planned diet, which probably corresponded more to the natural tendency of people to eat more in the morning and less in the evening and at night. This diet includes breakfast with bread, fruits and sweets early in the morning, a hearty lunch and a light dinner, which should not contain starchy foods, sweets or fruits.
Those diabetes patients who followed a typical six-meal diet did not lose weight and did not have better blood sugar. However, those who ate three times a day observed the opposite effect: they lost weight and their blood sugar levels improved significantly.
