Doctors analyzed the data of 16 patients whose average age was 35.5 years. All of them recovered and had a negative viral status. The disease in each was of varying severity. The incubation period averaged five days, all had fever, cough, sore throat and shortness of breath.
The virus completely disappeared from the body up to 8 days after the symptoms disappeared. Therefore, one of the study authors Lixin Xie advised to extend the quarantine after the patient's recovery for another one to two weeks.
Scientists still do not understand whether the findings of the study are relevant to older people who have a weaker immune system. It is possible that in their body the virus lasts longer.
As of March 31, in Ukraine, 8 people have already recovered from the coronavirus. They were all discharged from the hospital after two negative COVID-19 tests.
