Doctors resort to alcohol in hopes to relax. 27% of the doctors who took part in the survey have already received official diagnoses related to mental disorders from psychologists and psychiatrists. 40% of physicians face serious psychological and emotional problems that affect them in a destructive way. At the same time, female doctors suffer more than male doctors.
Every fourth doctor in the UK has mental disorders
The study also revealed some obvious facts. For example, a workweek of more than 51 hours greatly increases the risk of emotional problems for doctors. The authors of this study suggest that the UK’s public health system is developing a very alarming crisis with the psychological health of doctors.
