By telephone, citizens of Ukraine were informed that the evacuation was canceled for technical reasons beyond the control of the Ukrainian Embassy in China.
Olga Batura added that the Ukrainian embassy helped the Ukrainians a lot to evacuate them: representatives organized transport to the airport, agreed on all details with the Chinese side, and provided material assistance.
However, the longer they remain on the territory of the city where the dangerous coronavirus originated, the more they risk being infected.
The longer we stay here, the greater the risk of getting sick. Even going to the supermarket can be dangerous … There are only plus or minus 50 of us! For almost two weeks now we have been sitting on our suitcases, and the leadership of our country has been pulling on … In the Ukrainian news they say that we are already being taken home. I have the impression that I'm in some kind of parallel reality! I don’t understand anything!
– wrote the Ukrainian.
The BBC publication interviewed a girl from Krivoy Rog Victoria Rudko, who came to Wuhan to work as a dancer in an amusement park. Together with her were 19 more Ukrainians.
According to her, they are constantly in touch with the embassy, but they don’t know when they will be evacuated. Ukrainians, according to Victoria, have long signed a quarantine agreement.
Every time they tell us something else, then there is no money, then there is no place in Ukraine, then the plane is delayed,
– said Anastasia Kolomiets – another Ukrainian who is in Wuhan.
“Until today, there was no panic, we believed that they would take us away. But this morning, when we were supposed to be taken away, and then everything was canceled, it was the edge. All citizens of other countries were evacuated. I have an acquaintance from Australia, they were taken away “Everyone was evacuated a long time ago, but can’t we? They seem to have forgotten about us,” Victoria said.
The reaction of the Ukrainian embassy in China:
The Embassy of Ukraine in the People's Republic of China also published a message on the date of evacuation of Ukrainians without specific information at the moment.
"The Government of Ukraine plans to evacuate citizens of Ukraine from the aforementioned province, in which quarantine is introduced, by special charter flight on a march: Kiev – Wuhan (PRC) – metro Kiev. Date and time will be announced later after the relevant decision of the Government of Ukraine is adopted." – says the site.
Ministry of Health on the evacuation of Ukrainians
Minister of Health of Ukraine Zoryana Skaletskaya said that they have prepared an informed consent form that people who want to return to Ukraine must sign.
“Only after signing this form we can understand how many people will be actually evacuated. And only after we have this information, we can talk about the day (evacuation),” said the head of the Ministry of Health.
