Research began in 2011: the toxin bacteria Staphylococcus aureus, which can kill other pathogens, was discovered.
Scientists were able to make the toxin safe — it took several years. The result was twenty artificially synthesized molecules of the new family.
Created a new generation of antibiotics
The efficacy of the drug was tested on mice – new antibiotics destroy the resistant forms of Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, but do not harm the body. The animals were fine, even when they were given doses ten times higher than normal.
So far, scientists are not making far-reaching plans, but soon the first clinical trials with the participation of people should begin.
