"We are not talking about a serious epidemic yet, the situation with diphtheria is under control," assured Minister of Health Zoryana Skaletska in an interview with BBC News Ukraine.

She said that in 2018 in Ukraine 10 people got diphtheria. In this case, 141 doses of serum were used. Several hundred were decommissioned because the expiration date has expired. That is, 141 bottles – this was the need for Ukraine in serum, said Skaletskaya.
As of 2019 in Ukraine, 200 bottles of serum. Another 150 or 170 bottles of the state will give international organizations as humanitarian aid. An additional 100 bottles will be provided by the embassy, if necessary.
In fact, we can count on 450 bottles of serum, and this amount of medicine is enough,
– assured the head of the Ministry of Health.
Medicines are distributed in the regions, and the regions exchange each other. The amount of vaccines is enough to raise the vaccination level, Skaletskaya added.
What is diphtheria?
An acute infectious disease that affects the adrenal glands and organs of the cardiovascular, respiratory and nervous systems. Diphtheria can cause deadly complications.
What is known about the situation with diphtheria in Ukraine?
In 2019, 31 reports of suspected diphtheria were received, in 21 cases the diagnosis was confirmed:
2 cases were registered at the beginning of the year in the Luhansk region, 15 cases in October – in Uzhgorod among foreign students, 3 cases – in Kiev, 1 case – in the Kharkov region.
